MECHANISM FOR SUBMISSION OF STUDENTS’ GRIEVANCES
(esp. Sexual Harrassment and Anti Ragging)
The mechanism followed for addressing the students’ grievances has been kept very simple
by the college authorities so that a student friendly environment is established in the college.
The committee list which includes the names of the college staff who have been assigned
various duties in the college is displayed on the college website and the committees related
with handling students’ grievances is also displayed in the college campus. Students may
approach the concerned committee members or any member of the faculty if they have any
kind of grievance related to their academic environment. The members may mediate between
the complainant and the defendant against whom the complaint has been made, if required.
Otherwise the matter is reported to the Principal of the college or a formal complaint is
submitted by the complainant to the Head of the Institution. The matter is then resolved by
the college committees under the able guidance of the Principal. The concerned committees
also keeps the record of the complaints for database purposes. In case any complaint is
lodged related to Sexual Harassment, the identity of the complainant will be kept
confidential.
The college administration adopts zero tolerance policy for such cases and thus creates
awareness by interacting with students and organizing lecturers, conducts surprise inspections
and has also installed CCTV cameras at crucial points. In addition to this the college is also
committed to abide by the UGC guidelines notified from time to time in addressing the
matters related to students grievances.
